On Tuesday, September 1, 1908, Citizens Telephone Company began operating in Higginsville, Missouri. 2008 marks our 100th anniversary of providing communications services to our local communities. 2008 also marks the 20th anniversary of Citizens Telephone being locally owned and operated through an employee stock ownership plan and trust.
You will soon be receiving an opportunity to participate in an on-line survey and/or a telephone survey conducted on behalf of Citizens Telephone by the Pivot Group. The purpose of the survey is to ask for your input on the services we provide today as well as potential services of the future. These surveys are not a sales call and you will not be asked to purchase any products or given any opportunity to purchase any products.
Thank you for the privilege to provide your communications needs. We continue to strive "to give our customers the best telephone service modern telephony can devise at the lowest price consistent with such service, and at all times to give the public the courtesies and respectful treatment to which they are entitled."
Thank you for your consideration.

To All -
We at Citizens Telephone would like to remind you that the Internet opens doors for all types of communication. Some of that communication could put you at risk. Occasionally, email senders pose as someone you trust in an attempt to solicit personal information. Recently, emails have been received from senders claiming that they are representing us.
As we have warned in the past, we at Citizens will never ask you to submit your username, password or any other personal information. This holds true for the majority of online service providers such as Ebay, PayPal, banking, and other reputable online services. If you are ever in doubt about the authenticity of any correspondence you receive online, feel free to contact the sender via telephone or visit their website from a fresh browser window. Do not call any numbers, click on any links, or reply to correspondence that seeks such information.
In case you would like to read more about this subject, I am providing a link to a site that contains useful recommendations to avoid these situations.

If you feel that you have already fallen victim to such a solicitation (by providing your password or other personal information) please call our Tech Support line for advice. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact our Tech Support at 660.584.2588.

Those of you who have purchased and installed our "SecureIT" product do not have to take any action to protect yourselves from this threat. SecureIT has already installed the appropriate preventative measures on your computer.

Dear Valued Internet Customers:
This letter is a first for me. I have had a few very unpleasant
experiences on my home computers that I want to help you avoid
at all costs. Please take a moment to read this e-mail.
Last summer, one of our desk top computers at home completely
crashed. We lost a lot of information. We lost pictures, documents,
300 of my son’s songs for his MP3 player and a host of other
information. Even though we took our computer to some experts,
nothing was recoverable from our hard drives. I could have avoided
this loss if I had made backup copies of my files on a CD or disk
or if I had purchased an external hard drive and saved the files
to that drive periodically.
I would highly recommend that you back up your hard drives on
cds, disks, or on an external hard drive. While Citizens Telephone
does not sell these items, you can purchase them at most discount
or electronics stores.
I also wanted to share with you that I recently checked my desktop
computer at home and found 676 potential threats to our computer.
This checking process is a hassle for me, and it requires regular
updates and periodic upgrade purchases by me for the protective
software programs I purchased. I thought to myself, “There
has to be an easier way.” So I went looking for a hassle-free
product that would automatically update itself and protect us from
everyday on-line threats that normal internet browsing can bring.
Well, I found a product called SecureIT that does all of this
and more. I just installed this on my desktop at home in the nick
of time. My computer was working slower each day, acting very strangely,
and pop ups were slowing my high speed access to a crawl. I signed
up for SecureIT, used their on-line install process and everything
is working marvelously at home now.
This is the first time in my 21 year telephone career that I am
recommending a product to customers. SecureIT is a great product
that Citizens Telephone is offering for $4.95 per month for the
first computer and $3.95 per month for each subsequent computer
in your home. This product installs with little to no hassle. I
personally granted the SecureIT staff one-time access to my personal
computer on-line and they cleaned up my mess and installed the
SecureIT product without any assistance from me.
SecureIT offers guaranteed protection from viruses, worms, spyware
and other internet threats for this one low monthly fee. Plus,
SecureIT updates itself, all related programs and Microsoft Windows.
It also performs disk optimization chores that we often tend for
forget. After the product is installed, all of these protective
services are automatic and guaranteed. If you do not have any existing
problems on your computer, you will likely be able to complete
the installation on line without any assistance.
I am so impressed that we at Citizens Telephone are waiving the
$5 charge for assisted installs of this service to the first 500
customers that sign up. To sign up, just call 584-2111 and let
us know you would like to install SecureIT on your computer(s).
Tell our service representative that “Brian told me to call” and
get the telephone assistance completely free should you find that
you need it.
Regardless of your purchase decision, we greatly appreciate your
business and hope that you will have a safe and enjoyable on-line
experience with Citizens Internet Services.
Sincerely,
Brian L. Cornelius
